The Sumbawa Pony is a close kin to the Sumba Pony, but they tend to be smaller & originate on the Indonesian island of Sumbawa. Often they are referred to as the same breed because of the close proximity of the islands and the amount of cross breeding between them.

Also called the Macassar, the Lombok pony comes from the Indonesian island of Lombok. The Dutch government was involved with the island for the latter half of the 19th century so it is likely that this breed carries some Dutch influence. However it’s origins are unknown and purely speculation.

The Java pony is similar to the Timor breed, however they are larger & stronger than most of the other Indonesian pony breeds. While they are more powerful, they are also the least improved of the breeds and are often of rough confirmation.

Also called Kuda-Gayo, the Gayoe is a pony that comes from the island of Sumatra & the name comes from the Gayoe hills on the island. This pony is closely related to the Batak, Deli, Bali, Java, Sumba & Timor ponies. Perhaps the most closely related to the Batak, the Gayoe is known as a stockier branch of lesser quality.
