Kuningan Pony

Intro

The Kuda-Kuningan or Kuningan Pony is native to west Java and is a lighter, taller pony type than found on some of the other islands.

Origins

According to the DAD-IS these ponies are part of the Southeast Asia Pony group and ancestors of those brought to the islands from the 7th century onward. That includes Mongolian and Chinese animals. The Java Pony shares an island with this breed and lack of centralized breeding programs means there is likely crossover between. Java Ponies were influenced by Arabian and Barb blood and from the examples we found (if the are the correct breed) so were the Kuningan.
