Intro
Named for the Terai Region in southern Nepal where they are found, the Tarai Pony that differs from many of the mountain breeds found in the nation. The Tarai Pony is a small plains horse, smaller and slighter for flat terrain.
Origins
The origins of this little horse are a mystery, but they were first mentioned in a book about animals in Nepal, printed in the late 20th century. In it the author Helmut Epstein claims the breed were descendants of the Arabian, but there is not a lot of evidence to support his claim.
