Intro
One of two breeds found in Myanmar, the Shan Myinn or Shan Horse is a small mountain horse that comes from the Shan Highland in eastern Myanmar. (Burma).
Origins
This pony takes its name from the Shan people that breed them and is not likely genetically different from the Burmese Pony also found in the nation. While they are small animals with coarse conformation, they make up for it in adaptability and hardiness. Well adapted to live at higher altitudes and in difficult climates. Carrying obvious Mongolian influence, their coat tends to be thicker than their Burmese Pony cousin.
