A look at dark seal brown horses around the world and on a variety of different breeds.
While seal brown coat colors don’t vary greatly, there is some variation and for our purposes we’ve put them in two groups, light and dark. Perhaps more fitting of the black and tan name, dark seal brown animals are more common and maybe that is simply how the gene affects different breeds. Darker brown are easy to confuse with dark bay, especially if the bay is affected by the mealy gene. This is probably the coloring most think of when they envision a seal brown animal.
