Yongning Horse

Intro

The Yongning or Tibetan Yongning is a small horse or pony type which is part of the Yunnan pony group found on the Tibetan Plateau. They can be found in Zhongdian County, Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Deqen and Yunnan Province.

Origins

Like other small mountain horses in the area, the Yongning was developed to use for both riding and light agriculture. They are light enough to ride, but robust enough to do farm or packing work. Extremely well-adapted for the area, herds are left to live outside all year around.
