Balikun Horse

Intro

A rare light draft breed, the Balikun horse is well adapted for harsh environment and used mainly for transportation.

Origins

Thought to be descendants of Kazakh and Mongolian horses, the Balikun horses have been selectively bred for over 200 years and are a native breed of China. Bred primarily by farmers for agricultural needs, they are traditionally grazed outside year round. Only the strongest and healthiest animals were used for further breeding. The extreme climate of their native land combined with selective breeding practices have produced an incredibly hardy little horse.
