Intro
The Barkol horse comes from Kazak Autonomous counties of Barkol, Yiwu and Hami County, in Xinjiang. This is a region known for their horse and camel breeding.
Origins
There are several types found in the area, but almost all of them owe some genetics to Mongolian or Kazakh ancestors. The Barkol horse itself dates back to the mid 19th or early 20th century, developed by Kazakh herders by breeding Kazakh horses with Mongolian and other types.

uni coloured: light brown and chestnut are most common, but grey or spotted also exist
