Intro
The Ventasso Horse comes from the Ventasso Mountain in the province of Reggio Emilia in Italy. Known for their sturdy build and great heart the Italian army has long used them as mounts.
Origins
This area has been known for their horses since the 18th century and this breed has seen improvements to the breed via Thoroughbred and Maremmano blood. According to the DAD-IS the Ventasso is critically at risk and as of 2023 there were 149 animals left.
