Tongan Local Horse

Intro

The DAD-IS lists the Tongan Local Horse as a breed native to Tonga, but provide very little information.

Origins

From the examples we can find, this breed is a country bred type common to many countries. Generally imported to island nations, the ponies often have hardy Asian influence. The examples we could find are larger than generally found on island environments and obviously horses. They are retired animals from the Royal Palace of Tonga in 2023 and appear to be a variety of types.
