Intro
Also called the Tersky and Terskaya the Tersk is a relatively new breed developed in Russia in the early 20th century.
Origins
Created in the northern Caucasus by a team of horse breeders and vets, the foundation stock included Stretlets, Kabarda, Arabian and Don crosses. The idea was to breed a robust Arabian type riding horse that was better suited to local conditions. There are 3 recognized types within the breed, basic (or regional), eastern and heavy.
