Aratel Horse

The Aratel horse was created in an attempt to lighten and refine heavy Ardennes types. The updated breed was established using Ardennes animals crossed with Arabian, Norman Cob and trotter blood.

Whether or not they managed to re-create the original breed is unclear, however the breeding program was successful in that it created a handsome animal, well suited for both harness and under saddle.
