Intro
Names for the Sahelian empires that once dominated the grasslands of Mali, the Sahel horse is a type of West African Dongola, with Arabian blood. Like many of the people with strong horse culture in West Africa, these animals were well cared for.
Origins
Their ancestors can be traced back to the Sahelian kingdoms who were known for fine horseflesh and their location in the grasslands is known for breeding robust horses. The DAD-IS lists them as a local breed of Mali, but there is little reliable info about them.
