Origins
The Lithuanian Heavy Draft comes from Lithuania and was developed by crossing Zhmud animals with Swedish Ardennes. The result was a heavy draft of a hardy size but well proportioned.
The breeds development began early in the 20th century and was officially recognized in 1963 and they quickly became the most widespread breed in the area.
