Intro

The Barb and Arabian are native to North Africa and many of the countries have developed strains of their bloodlines. Algeria is no different, with their own version of the crossbred animals.

Origins

Almost any country that breeds the Barb or Arabian has a rich history of horsemanship. These two breeds are responsible for many of the modern breeds today, whether as a foundation or as enhancement blood. This combination tends to be bigger and stronger than Arabians.

Average height 14 – 15.2 hands

Physique

Head can follow Barb convex profile or Arabian dished face
Neck is long and muscular
Wide chest with oblique shoulder
Withers are high and back is short and strong
Body is square and harmonious
Mane and tail are thick and long, usually high-set

All colors, but predominately grey

Highly strung
