Intro
The Cavallo Romano della Maremma Laziale or Laziale Maremma Horse is a close relative of the Maremmano breed, specifically bred in the Lazio region, from which they take their name.
Origins
The Maremmano is thought to be the descendants of the mighty Barb of Northern Africa. They tend to breed true to type and the Laziale Maremma even more so. Over the years they have seen an infusion of Arabian and Thoroughbred blood. This proved to to refine rough characteristics, while providing a finer looking animal.
While still very similar to the Maremmano, this breed was officially recognized in 2010.
