Ialomita Horse

Intro

Named for the region of Romania where they were bred, the Ialomita Horse was a type of local horse found in the historic region of Walachia.

Origins

This was a strain of the Transylvanian horse, which is likely a country bred horse from Transylvania. The country breeds found in this part of the world have heavier tendencies, strong enough to work land and pull heavy loads to market. Their heritage probably lives on in today’s country bred type commonly found in the region.
