Diligencier Percheron Horse

Intro

Not an officially recognized breed on their own, the Diligencier is a variety of the handsome Percheron breed.

Origins

This lighter, taller strain of Percheron were appreciated for their strength and flashy movement. Their strength allowed them to pull a large French stagecoach called a diligence, from which they take their name. Popular during the late 18th and early 19th century, they were primarily used for pulling this specific type of coach.
