Intro
The Javakhuri Harness Horse is a versatile trotter that is extremely resilient and well adapted to the long Georgian winters. These animals are also good riding horse, pack animals and produce solid mules.
Origins
More of a type than a breed, they were established by crossing Crimea and Doni mares to Russian working horses during the mid 19th century. The crosses were good animals with well-developed muscles, useful for transport and draft purposes. After the early 20th century Ardennes, Brabant and Percheron blood was added, creating three groups within the breed, hard-draught, middle-draught and light.
