Dhanni Horse

Intro

The Dhanni Horse comes from the Punjab state of India and was thought to be Sikh leader Ranjit Singh’s favorite breed.

Origins

Originating in the 15th century they were a very popular horse found in Southern Asia and a variety of the Punjab group of horses. There is very little to be found about this breed, but from the paintings it is clear they were extremely handsome.

Average height 15 hands

Physique

Head is refined with slightly concave profile
Neck is short and set high
Back is short
Body is thick
Legs are long and slender

Traditional colors

There is not much detailed information about this breed, however almost all of the paintings of Ranjit Singh with a horse, that horse is grey or black
