Russian Trotter

Intro

Also called the Metis Trotter, the Russian Trotter comes from careful crosses between Orlov Trotters & American Standardbred that were then re-crossed with the offspring.

Origins

Breeding of this trotter began at the very end of the 19th century and was officially recognized in 1950 providing an animal that combined the best qualities of both foundation breeds. Being still relatively new, this breed is still being cross bred for speed.
