Black Coach Horse of Cotentin

Intro

There are many legendary European harness breeds, so it is notable for one to stand out amongst the crows. It seems the Black Coach Horse of Cotentin was in demand throughout Europe. In part appreciated for their uniquely black coat.

Origins

The origins of this handsome coach horse are unknown. Dome believe they come from Danish horses, but their similarity to the black Friesian might be undeniable. Regardless of their origins at one time they were the belle of the ball when it came to coach horses in the region. Sadly, even their popularity was not enough to keep them in vogue. The breed became extinct at the end of the 19th century when the last stallion, Le Corbeau gave up the ghost.
