Red Flaxen Horses

A look at red flaxen horses around the world and on a variety of different breeds.

The flaxen modifier has a very specific effect on the mane and tail hairs of a chestnut base, bleaching them to a white color. On a red chestnut the result is quite spectacular with a bold red body and flaxen mane and tail hairs. This combination has similar coloring to a silver bay or even a palomino.
