A look at palomino horses around the world and on a variety of different breeds.
Also called Isabella in some parts of the world, the golden palomino coloring comes from a single dose of the cream dilution gene working on a chestnut base. They come in a variety of shades depending on their chestnut genetics, from pale golden to bright red-gold to chocolate brown, always accompanied by a flaxen mane and tail. Some animals can show striking dapples across their body and palominos can also display sooty shading.
