A look at standard chestnut horses around the world and on a variety of different breeds.
Perhaps the most common shade of chestnut, ranging from a golden red to a deeper reddish brown color. Mane and tail color can also range from very light to very dark. Standard chestnut horses can be affected by the cream dilution which produces a seasonal palomino; the flaxen modifier which lightens mane and tail hair to white; and the champagne dilution creating a gold champagne. All of the above can also be confused with silver bay when accompanied by a flaxen mane and tail, but they are all different genetically.
