A look at gold champagne horses around the world and on a variety of different breeds.
On a chestnut base, champagne lightens body hair to a golden color, almost always with flaxen mane and tail. This genetic combination displays coloring similar to palominos, which comes from a single dilution of the cream dilution gene on a chestnut coat. Gold champagne is also called wheaten or pink skinned palomino, so it’s likely they are registered as Palomino from time to time.
