Intro
Not an official breed, the Souke Horse is a variety of the sturdy Hequ breed, an incredibly old set of bloodlines.
Origins
Records of Hequ animals (originally called Nanfan horses) date back to the T’ang dynasty in the 7th century. Over time several types have emerged, the Suoke, Jiaoke and Kesheng, developed to meet local needs and differing slightly. Considered a small mountain horse, they tend to be quite robust and of the three types the Souke tends to be a bit finer than the other two.
