Kesheng Horse

Intro

Kesheng Horses are not an official breed, but rather a strain of the Hequ Horse bred in Qinghai Province of China.

Origins

The Hequ dates back to the 7th century when they were prized. Later, during the 19th century they were crossed with the Datong Horse to improve their bloodlines. Today they are among the most common animals found in China and three strains have emerged Kensheng, Jiaoke and Suoke.

Of the three strains, this one possesses the most Mongolian influence. The Hequ is quite stout in general, this strain appears to be a bit smaller due to the Mongolian blood. They are also likely quite fast compared to the other strains.
