Used almost exclusively for racing, the Philippine Race Horse of today is English Thoroughbred adapted locally.
Origins
Horse racing is a popular Philippine sport, whether in harness or under saddle. Originally local horses were raced, later Arabian animals were introduced. However by the early 20th century most racing horses in the country were of English Thoroughbred lineage, with a splash of Arabian from time to time.
