French Cream Horse

Intro

Considered a color breed, the French Cream Horse began as a branch of the American Cream and White Horse.

Origins

In 2005 a studbook was established in France for cream colored horses. To register, animals must possess champagne and/or cream dilutions in their genetics. These produce animals which range from pure white to a bright cream color, always with light skin and eyes.

Cream dilutions only run in certain breeds, they are not found in Arabian genetics, for example. Several of the Iberian breeds carry both cream and champagne and by association Quarter Horses, Morgans and in addition a variety of gaited breeds (including Icelandic Horses). To register as a French Cream, breed genetics are not considered, only color genetics.
