Horse & Equine Organizations

Smiling man with a horse

There is an endless supply of different horse & equine organizations out there. Sorting & listing them is an enormous task and one we’re really glad others have already accomplished. No sense in reinventing the wheel.

Listing Lists

At the risk of sounding redundant, this is a list of horse organization lists – there are so many out there already that everyone should be able to find what they are looking for. We’ve covered all of the basics & expect that this list will continue to grow over time. Be sure to leave your own list or a any great ones you know of in the comments!

Horse Careers – Veterinary Nursing

Click to see VideoMost young horse lovers want to go into a field that allows them to do what they love…work with horses. Whenever I find info or videos about horse jobs I post them as it’s one thing people seem to be really interested in.

Nursing

While becoming a Veterinary Nurse is a noble career in itself, often nurses and vet assistants are working their way through vet school. What better way to gain experience in their chosen field.

Horse Museums Around the Globe

We love our horses so it’s only natural that we’d be interested in how people of days past felt about their trusty mounts. There are museums around the globe dedicated to our large four legged friends & we’ve compiled a quick list to have them in one place.

Dedicated to Our Hero

There are a number of respected museums that feature equine exhibits, but today’s list is dedicated to those who revere the horse full-time. This list isn’t complete by any means, we’re sure there are more to be discovered.

Feeding Your Horse GM-Free

Corn Close UpOver the past few decades the labeling laws on food have become rather ambiguous, if not downright useless. This goes for our food as well as that of (all of) our furry friends.

Not Totally Paranoid

I don’t know about everyone else, but I don’t want genetically modified food (or meat from animals fed on the stuff) in my diet and I don’t want it in my pets diet either. First & foremost because we have no clue what it will do to us in 20 years time.

The Horses of Théodore Géricault

Théodore Géricault was a French painter during the early 19th century and was known for two things, horses and his romantic artistic style. One of the few independently wealthy artists I’ve featured, it seems Théodore did as he pleased.

Self Taught Artist

Géricault was a life-long horse lover and found himself fascinated with horses at a young age. He had no formal art education but the first studio he joined was that of Carle Vernet, another equestrian artist. Throughout his life he absorbed the styles of many artists each one contributing a little to his work.

The Story of Leonardo’s Horse

Click to see VideoLeonardo da Vinci is arguably one of the most amazing artists that ever lived…he also had a thing for horses. An anatomy and engineering buff, Leonardo undertook a massive project with his grand horse statue.

An Incomplete Masterpiece

With all of his talent, Leonardo was easily bored and had trouble completing projects. Interestingly enough, he worked on the horse for 17 years but was only able to create a 24 foot clay model that was to be cast in bronze. A project of this size was a huge undertaking, especially in the 15th century and seemed to capture his attention from both an artistic & an engineering perspective.

A List of Horse Rescue Blogs Worth Following

Horse Rescue BlogsFor the past few weeks I’ve been sharing some fantastic online reading for horse lovers. However I’ve come to realize that I could spend days listing all of the different types of equine blogs out there.

The Rescue Blogs

Perhaps the most important genre of blogs when it comes to animals is the rescues. These are the people who not only spend their time helping our favorite animal, but they find time to write about their experiences as well. Of all the blogs these are the surest to make you laugh & cry. Most of the blogs below I’ve come to know through Twitter, Facebook and other forms of social media – be sure to look for them around the web as well.
