The Mighty Cincinnati – Horse Image of the Week

Horse standing in front of a building with a man
Another snap of Ulysses S. Grant’s favorite horse Cincinnati, and a much better one than we shared previously. Although this time the general doesn’t make an appearance.

Why We Like it

Given the fact this photo was taken sometime in the early 1860’s, it is brilliantly clear and really shows us what Cincinnati looked like. He was of Thoroughbred blood and stood large at 17 hands tall. He makes the fella holding him look so small! While he was prized as an excellent and aggressive war mount, when not in the melee he was known for his placid, calm nature. What a beautiful enigma this horse was.
