Over the past few months I’ve been sharing a rather large horse stamp collection I’ve been gathering. As soon as I think I’ve discovered all of the horse stamps out there I seem to find more (much to my delight). I’ll just keep them coming.

The Horses of James Pollard
It’s been a while since I featured any classic equine art, and when I ran across some of James Pollard’s work I had to share it.
A Little About Mr. Pollard
James Pollard was a British artist & engraver during the 19th century who clearly had a thing for the Royal Mail (and horse powered transportation in general). He is noted for his coach, fox hunting & equine scenes…but his coach paintings are among my favorites.

Trail of Painted Ponies
Last week I featured the amazing horse artist Cholla creating his very own Painted Pony. This week I thought I’d share a more general view of the Trail of Painted Ponies because it’s a really unique artistic endeavor.
How It All Began
The trail started in Santa Fe, NM as a public art project where artists transformed life sized fiberglass horse statues into works of art. Today they are collectable art pieces that celebrate both the equine animal and the art if storytelling.

Today it’s about breeds that start with K, from the handsome Kabarda that comes from ancient Turkoman stock to the athletic KWPN or Dutch Warmblood horse that has made a name for themselves in the show ring.
