It’s Friday, time to visit another country of the world and all of the fascinating horse breeds it has given rise to. Looking at each breed in the context of their origins is truly an interesting ride. Today a look at the breeds from Egypt.
Chariots of Fire
Horses have been an integral part of Egyptian civilization for thousands of years. The chariot a tool that gave them military might and control over neighboring nations for centuries. Although these animals have contributed so much the resulting modern breeds are strangely polarized. From the mongrel that is the Baladi Horse horse to the fine strains of Egyptian Arabian.

Apassionata
Todays video falls under the ‘amazing find’ category & I’m so excited to be able to share it. It’s a full length video version of the Apassionata show.
Horse Sensation
This show tours all over Europe & the UK and shares the magical world of horses. Using a variety of breeds and types…even donkeys. Generally I’m not a big fan of circus type animals on show, but I’m hoping this is a little different…I mean, look at their animals, they are magnificent!

The Horses of Adam Frans van der Meulen
Adam Frans van der Meulen was a Flemish Baroque painter during the 17th century and was perhaps most well known for his battle scenes.
Equine Focus
Frans van der Meulen’s art focused on horses in landscapes and because of this he was quickly recommended for (and given the job of) battle painter for Louis XIV of France. Snow Polo
Honestly I didn’t even know this sport existed, but I guess cold countries want to play polo too. Polo in general is a part of the equine industry that I know next to nothing about.
Good or Bad?
While it looks like it could be great fun, (on grass or snow) this is a game that also seems like it’s incredibly hard on the animal. As I spend more time writing about animals I’m coming to believe that using them as professional athletes isn’t very fair to them.

Chestnut Horse Breeds
Chestnut coloring can be found in almost every horse breed on the planet and some cultures regard this color to be the strongest and fittest of them all.
Basic Chestnut
Although we can’t testify to the truth of the legend above, there are some breeds who are prized for fiery red coats. Chestnut is one of the base colors and perhaps the most common of all horse colors. Unlike the black and grey breeds, many of the chestnut breeds weren’t created by natural selection, they were created by mankind through selective breeding.
