Mushroom Dilution I’m making my way through the colors section and giving it new information and updated images. In fact, today’s dilution is another one that wasn’t discovered until recently when color genetics testing was made possible.

Black Beauty on The Equinest As I run out of horse poetry to post I’ve began searching for more horse literature to share. In doing so I ran across a treasure trove including Black Beauty which was first published in 1877.

Breaking Ground

This realistic, bittersweet tale is written from the animal’s point of view, giving it a unique twist. Anna Sewell claims to have only translated the tale into English (from equine) for us humans to learn from.

This type of autobiography was the first of its kind, not only was it written from the horses perspective, but the horse was never given human traits.

It’s Monday and time to learn about another in the a-z of plants your horse can’t eat series. Today’s plant has a strange prehistoric look to it, the Field Horsetail may sound horse-friendly – but it’s not.

The hotly debated Mongol Derby is the longest & harshest horse race in the world. The race re-creates the vast messenger system of 1000 kilometers created by Genghis Khan.

An Ongoing Series

While most people won’t agree with the treatment of animals in this race, the same thing could easily be said about most modern equestrian sports. This one comes steeped in tradition and is a part of equestrian history. Episode five sees Barry and Joe happy with their horse choices but not so happy about the weather. However they are quickly bearing down on the lead rider and have a good chance of winning.

While most people won’t agree with the treatment of animals in this race, the same thing could easily be said about most modern equestrian sports. This one comes steeped in tradition and is a part of equestrian history. Episode four chronicles day four of the race and by this time many riders have fallen out of the race. There are only 15 riders left and a better chance of winning but the horses, hot temperatures and rough terrain are taking there toll on everyone.

This one comes from years of tradition and is a part of equestrian history. Episode three finds Barry and Joe well-rested and only 10 kilometers behind the leaders. It’s all about good horse selection and the guys know it.
