Nancy J. Bailey Revisited

Nancy's Horse ArtTuesday is artist appreciation day & today it’s all about the work of Nancy Bailey, another artist I found via Twitter.

Artist of the Week

Todays artist paints and draws lively animals that are full of energy and movement. Her horses almost jump off the page & her otter has a personality all its own. I’m not sure what her favorite horse is, but I’m betting Morgans are pretty high on her list.

How to Draw Centaur

Click to see VideoOver the past few weeks I’ve been posting how to draw videos that cover a wide variety of horse-like creatures, arguably horses but still animals who we will never be able to sketch from a photograph. Now you can draw Unicorns, Pegasus and Centaurs, oh my!

Horses are tough subjects to start with, so adding elements to them can only make you a better horse artist, right? Thanks to the artists below for their helpful videos, Centaur is a challenging subject and I need all the help I can get…and maybe a magic pencil too.

As much as I love horses, it’s fun to pick a day and go non-horse crazy. Off topic posts are fun from time to time and they allow me to learn about different things.

As many of my readers know, I love HDR photography. The process is simple in concept, however it takes a steady hand and a good eye to get just right. The weekend seems like a good time to go off-topic so today I’ll be sharing some spectacular nature HDR photography.

Central Florida

Tell us a little about you, what is your background & where do you come from?
I am not from anywhere yet from everywhere – my father was in the Navy, so we moved around a lot. As a young adult, I also served in the Navy from 1985 to 1994, and thus continued to move around. I settled back in Florida in the mid ‘90s, reaching Central Florida in 2008. I’m an example of a multi-careered individual, having worked in the restaurant industry, graphics design, and website development and hosting.

How to Draw a Unicorn

Click to see VideoLast week we took a youtube look at drawing Pegasus and I was shocked to see that I hadn’t posted anything about drawing unicorns. Considering their popularity in the horse world, I went searching for some how to draw unicorn videos.

Perhaps an easier subject than Pegasus, the unicorn also seems to pull at the heartstrings of people of all shapes & sizes, even the boys. The videos below feature two different artists who offer help drawing the lovely unicorn (this will help you brush up on your horse drawing skills too). I’m on a roll with these artistic videos & will continue to post more drawing tips when I find them.

Horses and Rainbows

Rainbows & Horses

Image from godutchbaby

It’s Saturday and I thought I’d post about something unusual and fun. Many of my post ideas come from a single image & this post is no different. The story goes like this: after seeing one horse & rainbow picture I had to search out more.

Now it must be noted that getting a great horse photograph isn’t always easy, and rainbows are even more difficult. So it goes without saying that snapping the two in harmony is priceless.

Yep, it’s true (or it should be) – at the end of every rainbow is a horse.
