Golden Bay Horses

A look at golden bay horses around the world and on a variety of different breeds.

The lightest of the bay shades, this one is actually not as common as some of the darker colors. Their coat color ranges from soft light red to almost golden yellow, which could almost be confused with a buckskin. We’ve categorized golden as the lightest shade of standard bay animals. They are different genetically from the wildtype bay which can have similar golden coloring (but can usually be visually identified by their striking primitive leg markings).
