A look at buckskin horses around the world and on a variety of different breeds.
Buckskin is caused by one dose of the cream dilution on a bay base and with a single dilution only the body hair is affected. While the mane, tail and points remain black, the body ranges from creamy white to deep golden yellow, sometimes with gorgeous dappling. This coloring is often incorrectly interchanged with yellow dun, which is entirely different genetically. A dun can be visually differentiated by the primitive dorsal stripe which runs down their back.
