Intro
The word Criollo started meaning those of purebred Spanish ancestry born in the Americas and was used for people as well as animals. Today the term indicates being native to the Americas, but with Spanish influence.
Origins
Almost all of the breeds found in South and Central America and many on the Northern continent are of Iberian descant. Strains of the lively Criollo Horse can be found in most of the Central and South American countries. Each adapting a type of the original Spanish bloodlines to localized climates and needs.
