Wilhelm von Kobell was a German painter during the late 18th and early 19th century. He recieved artistic training from a young age in Germany and tried a number of styles, however he came to base his particular style on Dutch art.
Kobell grew to be a prolific painter and was well-respected for his landscapes, portrait work, agrarian and battle scenes, all of which often featured horses. The horses in his art are handsome and bold, a clear sign that their owners are wealthy.

Tell us a little about you, what is your background and where did you come from?
I grew up in rural Illinois and I loved it! I was raised with horses and ponies – all kinds and personalities. Us kids would take off in the country and ride & explore all day long. We always had at least 2 or more horses at a time. I had my favorites thru the years, a Welsh mare – Babe, and a Quarter Horse mare – Miss Loxahatchee.

I’ve almost exhausted all of the horse apps I could find on iTunes – so I’m moving on to horse movies before I attach the equine app for iPads department. Horse movies seem to be a popular subject so I hope you find one you like.
It’s a decent sized list considering that horse movies are a fairly obscure genre. It took some serious digging, but I’ve got a pretty long waiting list of horse movies to watch now! For each movie I’ve provided a (very) brief description and a link to them on the iTunes store.

It seems that horses have a royal spot in the fashion world that never goes out of style. Over the decades bits of the ‘equine look’ have come in and out of vogue as has using horses in haute couture ads.
This video is a behind the scenes look at an equine photo shoot with model Heather Robinson who made number 1 on Fitness Magazines ‘Hot & Fit 100’ list for 2011. The setting is beautiful Los Cabos, Mexico…the prop, one skinny chestnut horse that looks like he could use a vacation himself.

As handy as all of the apps I’ve posted are, today’s subject may just be the most useful of them all. Medical & health issues are a regular occurrence for horse owners so these may just be the best reason to have your iPhone!
They are accident prone animals and that’s just part of life with a animal of prey. While these apps won’t save your horse’s skin in an emergency, they do provide practical information and med dosages useful in daily horse care. For each app I’ve provided a brief description and a link to them on the iTunes app store.

J&M Acres Horse Rescue is a non-profit rescue in Maple Ridge, BC. We rescue most of our horses from auction or from off the racetrack. Our aim is to get as many horses as we can off the meat truck and adopted into loving homes so that we are able to rescue more.
