Herd animals by nature, horses need to have buddies or they actually get lonely. Not everyone can afford one horse, much less a second to keep the first one company. So often horse owners have to come up with creative solutions to keep their equine from feeling sad.

Comanche Nation Saves Starving Horses

Comanche Nation LogoThe Comanche Nation seized 20 starving horses from their owner this week in Cotton County, OK.

In Bad Shape

The animals were discovered on Comanche land. Seven of their members already dead from starvation, 20 still alive but in terrible condition.

Taking Responsibility

The owner signed the horses over with no arguments and they are now in the custody of the Comanche Nation who intend to nurse them all back to health.

A position usually found in small establishments with fewer horses and employees, the duties of a stable hand can encompass those of groom, handler, stall cleaner & schooling rider. This is an entry level position, good for those who want to begin a career in the equine industry.

What You Need

This is a position which benefits from a working knowledge of horses, general maintenance skills and solid communication skills. Smaller stables often rely heavily on each employee and everyone shares responsibility for the animals.

A firm belief in teamwork, physical strength and the ability to stay calm under pressure are all key ingredients to a successful stable hand.

Horse Pictures From Sweden

Sweden flag
Sweden is the home of the Swedish Warmblood, a popular competition horse. Like many of the warmblood breeds they were initially developed as calvary mounts.

The domesticated horses of Sweden were smaller than other countries, but as years passed, the smaller animals were crossed with more robust breeds to develop a larger animal.

More recently the breed has become more and more refined as a show and competition horse.
