2009 Thermal Desert Circuit - VIHITS Thermal Desert Circuit VI

The fifth installment of the Thermal DC, a series of shows which span Jan through March every year. The shows are held at one of the most highly acclaimed hunter/jumper facilities in the US with 230 acre grounds and 14 competition rings.

Shopping & Dining
The show also features a desert marketplace which will sell equestrian supplies, apparel, equipment and art. The marketplace will also house a variety of dining options.

Showing ranges from Grand Prix show jumping to classes for novice and experienced riders.

2009 Arizona Desert FinalsArizona Desert Finals

The conclusion of a 6 week hunter/jumper circuit held every year in Arizona. Show facilities feature 5 showing rings and schooling rings for hunter, jumper and equitation classes.

These classes range from Grand Prix to show jumping for novice and experienced riders. Spectator seating is available at every ring.

No admission charge Wednesday through Saturday. Sunday admission is $5 per person, children under 12 are free.

A vendor courtyard is also set up and filled with an assortment of food choices as well as equestrian equipment, apparel and gifts.

Horse Jobs – Handler

The handler is responsible for the control and grooming of a horse in their charge. Depending on the size of the establishment, duties of a groom and handlers can overlap to a large degree.

Heavy Hands-On

Handlers are expected to be the authority on their horse charges and probably spend the most time with each animal over all. This is a position which benefits from an in-depth knowledge of horses, keen attention to detail and an inclination for teamwork.

Experience managing horses, the ability to problem solve under pressure and a strong character are important components of a successful horse handler.

Chapter number five of the Thermal Desert Circuit series that runs from Jan through March of every year. The events are held at one of the largest hunter/jumper competition venues in the US, their grounds cover 230 acres and provide 14 competition rings in total.

During the shows there is also a desert marketplace where horse lovers can shop for equestrian clothing, items and equipment. The location also provides a wide variety of dining options.

Showing ranges from classes for novice and experienced riders to Grand Prix show jumping events.

Zebras are a wild striped cousin to the horse. Their name comes from the Portuguese word zevra which translates to wild ass.

Global Stripes

Like horses, zebras can thrive in many habitats and are found in the plains, forests, mountains and on the coast.

Their biggest predator is man, who hunts them for their striped coat and destroys their natural habitat.

More Than One Type

The striped patterns are individual to each animal and there are three different types of zebra.
1. Plains zebra
2. Mountain zebra
3. Grevy’s zebra
