Demotivational Horse Posters

Flattery. If you want to get to the top, prepare to kiss a lot of the bottom

Image from Despair

We all know the horrible motivational posters often found in doctors office waiting rooms, DMV locations and high school principal offices. They make the cynic in all of us roll it’s eyes, but someone somewhere still makes them.

A New Twist

It’s not a really a new twist, but it’s a clever one. Whoever started the de-motivational poster meme was quite a character. The idea has grown from just changing the originals to creating new posters specifically for de-motivational messages. Here are some horse themed posters that are sure to get a chuckle…even if you have seen them already.

Horse Artist – Iwona Jankowski

Unperturbed NightEquine art never ceases to inspires and motivates horse lovers, myself included. So I wanted to profile some of the amazing artists out there who use horses as their subject.

Lucky for me, there is a lot of it out there and it means I’ll be spending countless hours looking through all of it.

The Artist

Iwona Jankowski’s horse art captures the strength and power of the horse while at the same time celebrating them with a colorful abstract touch.

“There is a beauty in every aspect of my life and I have a need to share it with others.”

Inspired by her sculpture teacher in Art School, Iwona learned how to effectively make her images worth a thousand words.

“I hope my art will bring some people escape, peace and provide relaxation from today’s daily lackluster world.”

That said, feast your eyes on some of her pieces & her words about each one. Read more

Horse Translated

There is a degree of horsemanship in almost every country on the planet & we thought it would be fun for horse lovers to see what the word horse looks like in other languages. It’s interesting to note the differences (& similarities) that can be found in each language.

Marysville’s Equine Rescue Association Needs Help

Horse with a hat onWe all know times are tough and that rescue facilities are filling up at an alarming rate. Tragic really, that there are hundreds of thousands of unwanted horses in the US alone every year.

No Change In The Forecast

This is a problem that has gotten continually worse – and no doubt will continue to do so as more jobs go and feed prices rise.

A Sweet Lady and 30 Sick Horses

The Marysville Equine Rescue Association is a rescue operation that takes in unwanted, abused and sick horses. The amazing woman who founded and runs the operation is Vel Moore.

Horse Jobs – Veterinarian

Man with gloves inspecting a horse

Perhaps one of the most essential horse careers and one that requires the most training to become. A horse veterinarian is an important job which carries the (sometimes) heavy burden of responsibility and unexpected hours.

What You Need

This is a position which benefits from attention to detail, strength of character (and stature) and a love of the outdoors. Horse doctors have their fair share of sad, scary, disgusting, painful and rewarding moments in the course of their daily work.

Required schooling & certification, a superb relationship with the equine animal and the ability to remain calm and organized under pressure are essentials for anyone persuing a career in equine veterinary medicine.

Horse Costumes Are Popular – Pt 2

Woman in horse costume in shopping cart

Image from funtik.cat

Welcome to the second edition of the costume series, where I have even more strange and fantastic horse costumes to share.

Not Just for Halloween

Not only are the costumes great (that one horse mask seems to be a popular item), but some of the photography is great too. As I add each image, the writer in me wonders about the story behind it, I imagine some of the tales would have us all in stitches.

Happens Every Year

Hopefully the recent Halloween season will offer us more horse costumes photos to giggle over in the future. I’m always on the lookout for funny horse shots so I’ll find them, and when I do I’ll share.

Horse Pictures From Mexico

Mexico flag
The Mexican people are proud of their horsemanship and although there are no breeds native to Mexico the Mecican criollo horse is a great source of pride.

In the 1970’s several horsemen attempted to create a native breed using Andalusian, Quarter Horse and specific criollo bloodlines. The result is the Azteca horse, a flashy, strong, quick and balanced mount, perfect for all forms of cattle work.
