Most horse lovers I know (myself included) never seem to get tired of horse stuff. I’m not mentioning the holidays yet, but soon there will be Christmas Carols everywhere we turn…get prepared now.
Thinking towards the future, here are 12 beautiful 2010 horse calendars which also make great gift ideas. I’ve included a shot of the front & back covers (who buys a calendar they can’t see inside of?) and links to where they can be purchased on Amazon.

Features the portrait photography of Tony Stromberg & each month offers an inspirational quote.
Heh, anyone who has spent time riding horses over fences has probably made an attempt or two to jump one themselves.
Of course, not all of us are as graceful on our own two legs as we are with our trusty mount beneath us. It’s all fun and games until you look foolish in the showring.

While I love oils, watercolor and drawing…I’ll always have a thing for the honesty of street art. In fact, I have so much horse graffiti that keeping track of it has become impossible. So I thought I’d organize it all in one place for the horse/ graffiti lovers of the world.

Tell us a little about you, what is your background & where do you come from?
I was raised in Nova Scotia where I was bit by the “horse bug.” Ever since I was a young girl, horses have been in my life. I’ve had the pleasure of working for a large show barn and I’ve had the awesome experience of working with some of the best equestrians of our day and their mounts! I am one of the lucky ones who has a horse in my barn who calls me “Mama.”

A prolific photographer, Robert Vavra captures the horse in a way very few can match & I’ve been captivated by his photography since I was a child.
His work effortlessly evokes the horses that dreams are made of.
Here is a list of his equine books, with links to where you can purchase them on Amazon with translations & a peek inside where available.

There are more horse breeds than I ever dreamed possible when I began my horse breeds page. Recently I had a friend tell me that the list was incomplete & provide me some holes I was missing (and there is more to come).
So I’m asking for help from my readers. My goal is to compile a list of breeds with information (and clear images) for each one. There is very little information about some of the older & more obscure breeds, and often it is in a language I don’t understand. Plus finding pictures is very time-consuming.
The idea is to be objective about each breed and to provide basic information about their history, traditional colors, temperament, features & physique.

How soon after you rescue are the animals available for adoption?
Adoption of the horses depends on their condition when they come in – not only physically, but mentally as well. There may be training issues but there may be emotional issues that need to be dealt with as well. A horse that comes in healthy physically may need a specific type of person to work with them – both temperment wise, and riding wise.
What types of horses do you have available?
HorseNet Horse Rescue has many horses available for adoption. Some are ridable, and some are companion only. We don’t sell horses, but rather adopt them out to suitable and approved homes.

I am a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) with a BFA in Illustration.
