Tuesday is artist appreciation day & today it’s all about the work of Kelli Swan, another artist I found via Twitter.
Artist of the Week
Todays artist uses her pencil to bring horses to life. Her drawings cover a wide variety of disciplines and for each one she tells a simple story with no need for words. Her favorite horses are the flashy ones, especially the Morgan.
Keeping Up With Kelli
Be sure to visit her websites at www.pencilplace.com & www.cygnetgraphics.com to see her latest stuff & you can always find Kelli on Twitter to keep up with her work. Here are some quick quotes & my favorite images from her interview, you can read the whole interview here.
“I later had a friend in school who also had a gift for drawing and painting horses. My friend’s work was so spectacular, that I often felt cheated somehow – to be without such a talent. This was a good thing in the long run, as it inspired me to find my own hidden talents.”
“My last horse was a Morgan, and he taught me much about life…he taught me that a life lived through the heart surpasses all expectations.”
“I’ve never seen a place so beautiful in my life as Arizona. Just thinking about the Red Rocks of Sedona and the hiking and riding trails I enjoyed there brings me great inspiration to create.”
“I think the Internet also inspires artists to be even more creative – it certainly has had that effect on me! The easier it is to share creations, the more one wants to create.”
Enjoying the Artists
Hope you enjoyed this artist re-visit & that you’ll check out Kelli’s full interview to learn more about her & her work. Stay tuned because next week we’ll be re-visiting an interview with horse artist Terry Stanley.
