A look at strawberry roan horses around the world and on a variety of different breeds.
The roan white pattern causes white hairs to grow interspersed throughout coat color. On a chestnut base, roaning causes various shades of pink, giving them the name strawberry roan. They can be confused with a red dun, but chestnut duns don’t tend to have such complete face masks and dark legs tend to be more like stockings, while the dun only has socks.
