Red Dun Horses

A look at red dun horses around the world and on a variety of different breeds.

Also called apricot, peach or claybank dun, red dun comes from the dun dilution on a chestnut base. Easily confused with a light chestnut, all hair is usually lightened on the body, while mane, tail, points and primitive markings remain an undiluted shade of red. As always, the defining factor and easiest way to identify a dun is by the dorsal stripe that runs down the center of their back.
