Beautiful appaloosas come in an almost endless variety of spotting patterns, but can be categorized into several types based on the amount of white in the coat. Snowflakes don’t really fall into a specific category and are likely to be the early stages of roaning on a varnish roan. Varying from flecks on the hindquarters to spots scattered throughout the coat. They can also grow lighter with age.
