A look at frost appaloosa horses around the world and on a variety of different breeds.
Beautiful appaloosas come in an almost endless variety of spotting patterns, but can be categorized into several types based on the amount of white in the coat. Frost coats don’t really fall into a specific category and are probably the early stages of roaning on a marble appaloosa. Frost appys have light hairs interspersed in the base coat, giving them a frosted look, it can be concentrated at the hips or throughout the topline of the coat. This pattern can be mistaken for the roan or even rabicano, although frost patterns are found along the topline and rabicano radiates from the flank.
