The sooty modifier on a chestnut base can be quite dramatic. This modifier causes dark hairs to grow, generally along the topline and points. It is much more dramatic on a chestnut when they are affected by a single dose of a cream dilution gene (palomino). Although it can be found on any shade of chestnut coat.
